Inspired by the “baby nest” used to support babies in critical care at the NICU, the Lovey You™ Baby Bumper has been thoughtfully developed to provide a safe space for baby to lounge and play:
1. Our signature bumper sides curve away from baby’s face to promote maximum air circulation. We chose Buckwheat hulls as our bumper filling as they are gentle-firm (like a baby mattress) and their triangular shape allows for air to circulate freely beating polyester and other synthetic fibers on the breath-ability index.
2. There is no padding behind baby’s head to avoid infant positional asphyxia from chin-to-chest placement or any sort of slumping or elevation of the head. This is very important as baby grows and becomes constrained by today’s conventional baby loungers, anything that pushes baby’s chin-to-chest is extremely dangerous because it makes breathing difficult for baby.
3. Our bumper sides gently contour to baby’s torso and provide support and stability. This support may result in less startling and which leads to a more relaxed baby.
4. The centre of our bumper does not contain any filling or padding so you can place baby on the firm surface of your choice. Newborns should always be placed flat on their backs, on a firm surface.
5. There is no padding at the feet. Our bumper is designed for unconstrained growth and freedom of movement. By keeping the entire body level and straight, we are able to help promote proper neck, spine and hip alignment which is ideal for overall development.
WHAT AGE IS THE LOVEY YOU™ BABY BUMPER SUITABLE FOR?
It is our hope that the Lovey You™ Baby Bumper will become your child’s lovey and grow with them through the years. It is suitable from newborn all the way to toddlerhood. As your little one reaches exciting milestones, you can fold the bumper in half to create a perfect perch for tummy time, sitting support, arm support for nursing, body pillow and anything else you can think of – our bumper is incredibly versatile.
WHAT IS THE LOVEY YOU™ BABY BUMPER MADE OF?
The Lovey You™ Baby Bumper is made from 100% sustainable certified organic cotton/hemp and the bumper covers are made from organic cotton. Our bumper and covers are free from toxic chemicals, off-gassing, chemical flame retardants, synthetic fibres or polyester filling.
The side bumpers are filled with 100% organic Canadian-grown buckwheat hulls. An eco-conscious, high-performance filling - offering resilience, durability, and temperature control that far exceeds synthetic, blended, or polyester-based fillings. The buckwheat hull bumpers are perfect for keeping your little one from rolling out and you from rolling in. They are breathable and allow air to flow freely. Buckwheat hulls also facilitate grounding with sound and EMF blocking attributes. Hulls are naturally insect and mite repellant.
WHERE CAN I USE THE LOVEY YOU™ BABY BUMPER?
We recommend using on a firm, flat surface away from any edges or falls. While the bumper sides are naturally weighted from the buckwheat hulls, supervised use is an absolute must (as with any baby product!), the bumper will not shift or be confining in any way. HOW DO I WASH THE LOVEY YOU™ BABY BUMPER?
If possible, avoid washing the Lovey You™ Baby Bumper shell and take care to not get it wet. The goal is to keep the buckwheat hulls dry. We recommend our bumper covers to protect the shell from life’s little messes. We highly recommend spot cleaning the bumper shell as a first option if anything should leak through the cover, then laying it in the sun to re-energize and disinfect.
If you must wash the bumper shell, the easiest method is to empty the buckwheat hulls into a pillow case. Wash the shell on gentle or hand wash cycle with a small amount of your preferred baby detergent. Hang to dry, iron, and refill with hulls using a large funnel. We have a video tutorial coming soon but we promise the whole process is very easy!
Our bumper covers are the softest buttery-smooth fabric to provide an extra layer of protection. The bumper cover can be washed inside out as often as needed on gentle cycle and dry on cool setting. For detailed care, please see Care and Maintenance.
SAFETY USE
Never leave your baby unattended in the Lovey You™ Baby Bumper.
Never use your Lovey You™ Baby Bumper near open heat or fires.
As with all baby gear, supervised use is an absolute must.
Always lay your Lovey You™ Baby Bumper on a flat, firm surface away from any edges or falls. Avoid laying on uneven blankets or cushioning.
Always take baby out of the Lovey You™ Baby Bumper before moving from room to room.
Always stay in the room with your baby while using. Do not place on high surfaces.
We use 100% organic materials free from chemicals or pesticides, however if you have allergies to cotton, bamboo or buckwheat- discontinue use. Our bumper is naturally non-allergenic and this would be an extremely rare occurrence.

We use zero Waste packaging practices. No plastic bags inside of plastic bags inside of cardboard with unnecessary tags and excessive printed materials. You will receive your product with only the most necessary product info tags and can conveniently access our website for any information you may need. Your Lovey You™ Baby Bumper will arrive folded ergonomically for shipping. Our mailer is recycled cardboard that is produced sustainably in Canada and 100% compostable.
